Cascadian Farm Launches Frozen Organic Peaches, Vegetables
ed its line by adding certified organic peaches to its line of frozen fruits and has also introduced a line of 16-ounce Family Size frozen organic vegetables.
The premium Freestone-variety peach slices are individually quick-frozen and packed in 10-ounce bags, which retail at a suggested price of $3.59. The new product came out last month and was featured at Natural Products Expo East earlier this month in Washington. John DePaolis, head of marketing for the manufacturer, said consumers are now looking for organic foods more than ever, with more than a third of all U.S. households buying organic food these days.
Cascadian Farm's new family-sized veggies are Sweet Corn, Garden Peas, Broccoli Cuts, Cut Green Beans and Mixed Vegetables. Prices range from $1.99 to $2.69 per bag, depending on variety.
New Flavor Celebrates The Steelers
UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- Football Sunday gets a little sweeter for Pittsburgh Steelers fans and their families this fall, with the introduction of Hagan premium Steelers Sundae Ice Cream. The official ice cream of the Steelers, the new flavor is made by Hagan Ice Cream here. "It just seemed right to get together and create a new flavor that celebrates the team, the fans and the city itself," said Tim Rice, regional sales manager for Hagan, a brand that makes premium as well as regular ice cream and low-fat yogurt.
Steelers Sundae is a blend of chocolate ice cream, fudge swirls and peanut butter-filled chocolate footballs that are about the size of a dime, and is available in half gallons; the suggested retail price is $5.59. It is scheduled for release the week of Oct. 21.
"We look for huge sales of this product," said Rice. Hagan, founded in 1878, is part of Kemps Foods, a division of Crowley Foods, Binghamton, N.Y.
Request Foods Aims to Bring Busy Families Together
HOLLAND, Mich. -- Request Foods here has introduced Wal-Mart Supercenter shoppers in a 40-state region to nine new frozen entrees branded Mary Ellen's Blessings At Home. Enclosed in each package is a card, which includes an inspirational message and family activity created by Winning At Home, also based here, run by Dan Seaborn.
Mayfield Introduces New Locking Ice Cream Carton
ATHENS, Tenn. -- Mayfield Dairy Farms here has introduced a resealable carton for its rectangular package, called the Clik-Top.
The Clik-Top features a convenient break seal and a locking tab that keeps the carton closed and the ice cream fresh, the company said. Double-wall construction prevents carton tearing.
Mayfield Classic Ice Cream, Mayfield Lowfat No Sugar Added Ice Cream and Mayfield Lowfat Frozen Yogurt lines are available in the Clik-Top carton. The carton also features bolder, easier-to-read graphics.
Mayfield said its sales reps have received positive feedback from their supermarket customers since the July introduction.
