National Labor Relations Board's acting regional director in Seattle last week issued a complaint against Albertson's, Boise, Idaho. The complaint alleges that Albertson's has illegally filed and pursued a lawsuit against the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union and against several local UFCW unions. Albertson's case relates to lawsuits against the retailer concerning off-the-clock employee wage claims. The NLRB, in a press statement, said Albertson's move was "for the illegal objective of interfering with the unions' ability to represent its constituents." Mike Reed, director of public relations and governmental affairs for Albertson's, said the move will not stop Albertson's lawsuit because it is only an administrative complaint. A hearing on the NLRB matter will take place on Dec. 1 in Seattle.
