BIOMETRIC SYSTEMS COMING AT CUB, GREEN HILLSek announced that it will launch biometric payment technology in all 24 of its stores here by Nov. 10. The new technology, provided by Pay By Touch, San Francisco, is free to shoppers and will allow them to pay for their groceries with a finger scan that is linked to their financial accounts, eliminating the need to carry a wallet or checkbook in the store.

ek announced that it will launch biometric payment technology in all 24 of its stores here by Nov. 10. The new technology, provided by Pay By Touch, San Francisco, is free to shoppers and will allow them to pay for their groceries with a finger scan that is linked to their financial accounts, eliminating the need to carry a wallet or checkbook in the store. "We're always looking to bring additional conveniences to our customers," said Ed McManus, president of Cub Foods East Region, in a statement. A week earlier, the Cub Foods West Region, Stillwater, Minn., announced it planned to roll out the same biometric system to its 65 stores by Nov. 30. In addition, last week, Green Hills, a one-store independent in Syracuse, N.Y., announced that it will implement the Pay By Touch biometric payment system, along with biometric-activated kiosks aimed at loyalty customers.
