Pollock is the primary ingredient in fish sticks, fast-food fish sandwiches, and imitation crab and shrimp, the groups said in a news release. The fisheries in question are, collectively, the largest producers of pollock in the world. Certification by the MSC, an international nonprofit organization promoting responsible fishing practices, is intended to help environmentally conscious consumers make seafood choices that are compatible with their beliefs.

3-A-DAY OF DAIRY TEAMS WITH WEBMD

NEW YORK -- 3-A-Day of Dairy and the WebMD Weight Loss Clinic have teamed up to present the 3-A-Day/WebMD Weight Loss Challenge. Starting this month, consumers can sign up for a free, three-week membership to the WebMD Weight Loss Clinic, an online weight management tool that creates personalized eating plans for participants. The site offers fitness tips and dairy recipes. Supermarkets will offer brochures with dairy recipes, exercise tips and advice from WebMD Weight Loss Clinic. Officials announced the initiative at the Milk Gallery here and reviewed research that links dairy consumption to weight loss, particularly in the abdominal area.
