MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Harris Teeter here has decided to relax its eight-month-old policy regarding coupons obtained via the Internet from sites such as Coolsavings.com and SmartSource.com. The chain will begin accepting cents-off Internet coupons, limiting the number of coupons to two per manufacturer product, according to reports. The chain will continue to reject Internet coupons for free product, and reserve the right to reject any Internet coupon that does not appear to be an original or does not scan properly. Stores will receive signs informing customers of the new policy. Harris Teeter decided last summer to stop accepting online coupons following a rash of coupon fraud in several markets. Harris Teeter declined to comment.
