The survey, funded by LaFarge, Wis.-based Organic Valley Cooperative, indicates 73% of respondents said it's important for them to know if products are locally or regionally grown. The percentage was largest in the Northeast, where 83% said it is important for them to know where products are grown. Overall, 85% of consumers trust smaller-scale farms to produce safe, nutritious food.
