NEW YORK -- While a majority of primary meal preparers consider themselves good cooks, they want help in the form of easy, quick recipes they can remember, according to a new study conducted for the National Pork Board. An online poll of more than 2,000 primary meal preparers indicated 60% of respondents consider themselves good cooks, and 14% consider themselves excellent. However, 8 out of 10 respondents said they want to be better; 53% said they routinely seek recipes and inspiration from the Internet, television cooking shows, cookbooks and magazines. Results of the poll, conducted by Des Moines, Iowa-based NPB during September, were released to the media here at a luncheon last month. The survey's objective was to find out what goes into meal-planning decisions, said Ceci Snyder, assistant vice president, consumer marketing, for the NPB. Officials at the trade group was gratified to see that meal preparers are receptive to new meal preparation and cooking ideas, she said.
