SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. -- Trader Joe's here is reportedly scouting locations in Milwaukee and Madison, Wis., as it seeks to open its first food stores in that state. The chain, which specializes in gourmet fare, has about a dozen stores in neighboring Illinois and three in Michigan, according to its Web site. The company also is preparing to open its first New Mexico location in Santa Fe. A spokesman for Trader Joe's could not be reached for comment. Trader Joe's operates more than 200 stores across the country. It is owned by Theo and Karl Albrecht, who also own the Aldi's limited-assortment chain.
