Work is set to begin on the $11.9 million expansion in mid-August and should be completed by late summer 2002.

SHAWS OFFERS INTERACTIVE VACATION TOOL

WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Shaw's Supermarkets here last week said it is providing interactive travel membership resources to its associates and its Shaw's Rewards Card members as well.

The associates and loyalty card members will be provided discounted access to the VacationCoach subscription service for a period of one year.

"Our associates are our most valued asset," said Bernard Rogan, spokesman for Shaw's. "With the expert help of VacationCoach's objective travel advice resources, they will save tremendous hassles and time as they plan their summer getaways."

DIERBERGS MARKETS GO SILENT

ST. LOUIS -- Officials at the 17-store Dierbergs Markets here last week reported that their stores are enjoying "the sounds of silence" after installing a wireless phone system.

"The wireless system has cut down on two of Dierbergs largest challenges, an overabundance of overhead page traffic and the ability of customers to reach our managers," said Bob Francis, director of engineered services at Dierbergs. Dierbergs installed the Sonacom IT Partners wireless phone system. The telecommunications company is located here as well.
