Food lion, Salisbury, N.C., said it plans to increase its store base by 80 new supermarkets in 1999. The company said 73 of the new stores will operate under the Food Lion banner and seven new units in Florida will go under the Kash n' Karry name. The company also said 20 other stores -- a mix of Food Lion and Kash n' Karry units -- will be closed next year as part of the company's ongoing site-evaluation program.
