Henry J. Bison Jr.
Funeral services have been held here for Henry J. Bison Jr., former general counsel to the National Association of Retail Grocers (predecessor to the National Grocers Association) and the National Food Brokers Association (now known as the Association of Sales & Marketing Companies and currently a part of Grocery Manufacturers of America). For more than 30 years, Bison was Washington advocate and counsel to both organizations. An antitrust legal scholar, he appeared before the Supreme Court in the Von's merger case, represented the industry before the Federal Trade Commission on the development of the Fred Meyer guidelines on the availability of promotional allowances, and advised the industry on wage and price controls during the 1970s.
