LODI, Calif. -- Funeral services were held here this month for Mardee Kidd, chairman of Mar-Val Markets, which is based here. Kidd, 79, died of a heart attack while on a Mexican cruise. He and his brother Val opened the first Mar-Val Market in 1952; he retired in 1986.
