COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Services were scheduled to be held here last week for Ray Rose, 80, former president and chief executive officer of King Soopers, Denver. A Kansas native, Rose began working for Dillon & Sons (now Dillon Stores, Hutchinson, Kan.) while a student at Wichita State University. He stayed with Dillons after graduation, and was transferred to the company's King Soopers subsidiary

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Services were scheduled to be held here last week for Ray Rose, 80, former president and chief executive officer of King Soopers, Denver. A Kansas native, Rose began working for Dillon & Sons (now Dillon Stores, Hutchinson, Kan.) while a student at Wichita State University. He stayed with Dillons after graduation, and was transferred to the company's King Soopers subsidiary in 1967. Rose became president of King Soopers in 1970, and then was chairman and CEO from 1979 until his retirement in 1981. Two years later, Dillons was acquired by Kroger Co., Cincinnati.
