A combination plate offered each day includes fried rice or lo mein and any two items from the hot table for $4.19. Entrees also are sold by the pound. Some sample prices are vegetable lo mein, $2.69 a pound; beef with broccoli, $4.59; shrimp with garlic sauce, $5.99, and spicy chicken with peanuts, $3.99.
Officials at Pathmark declined to comment on the addition of the Chinese program while it's still in its experimental stage.
Panda Express, based in South Pasadena, Calif., has 141 locations, 26 of them in units of Arcadia, Calif.-based Vons Cos. Others are freestanding, in shopping malls, and a handful are in warehouse club stores.
