PHOENIX -- Retailers joined with the publishing industry last week here for "Making Connections," the annual Retail Conference of the Magazine Publishers of America, New York. At the opening party, themed "Print Comes to Life," attendees got their pictures taken on motorcycles and for mock magazine covers, had books signed for them by the authors, watched the stars inside as a TV played the Oscar broadcast and outside via high-powered telescopes. Mostly, they enjoyed the company of others with an interest in the print category and prepared for the educational sessions in the days that followed.
