IRWINDALE, Calif. -- Ready Pac Produce and the California Avocado Commission have teamed up for the fifth consecutive year to launch an advertising and promotion campaign designed to boost fresh produce sales, officials announced.
sweepstakes offering $10,000 in cash and prices, officials said. The sweepstakes and promotion will be featured on www.readypacproduce.com and www.avocado.org. On those sites, visitors can submit entry forms, and browse recipes and tips for combining Ready Pac's products with California avocados to create quick and fresh meals.
In addition, participants can enter the sweepstakes and access useful information by going to www.cookfreshcookfast.com, a site designed specifically for the campaign. Other components of the promotion, which runs through June 18, include coupons distributed via freestanding inserts, sweepstakes flags on Ready Pac European-style salads, and point-of-sale materials. California Avocado Commission radio spots will highlight the sweepstakes and offer quick cooking tips in select markets. Ready Pac, based here, is a major processor of fresh-cut produce. The company's salads, fresh-cut fruit and vegetables are distributed in supermarkets and restaurant chains across North America. Ready Pac has processing facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
The California Avocado Commission, based in Irvine, Calif., conducts market development activities and works to increase consumer awareness on behalf of the state's 6,000 avocado growers. The CAC was created in 1978 to serve as the official information source for California's avocados and the avocado industry.
