NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- This year's Food Industry Productivity Convention & Exposition marked the transition to co-sponsorship by the Food Marketing Institute, Washington, from the Food Distributors International, which was folded into FMI in January. The logistics and supply chain event, held here at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center Oct. 26 to 28, continued to also be co-sponsored by the International Foodservice Distributors Association. The productivity show also introduced afternoon exhibit-floor educational sessions in a section of the floor dubbed the Staging Area. The Staging Area was also the scene of an opening-day reception where attendees from retail, wholesale and food-service companies could relax after a day spent learning about such areas as warehousing, voice-based selection, transportation, RFID and pallets.
