Among promotional tie-ins with the Cingular Wireless telecommunications company and with fast-food restaurants Carl's Jr. and Hardee's, the movie will get additional support from Dr Pepper when "Spider-Man" hits home video on Nov. 1. The promotional tie-in will feature on-pack consumer promotion on more than 150 Dr Pepper products, in addition to a national sweepstakes instant-win offer.

Miles of 'Healthy Smiles'

SAN ANTONIO -- Crest, the Cincinnati-based Proctor & Gamble oral care brand, went on the road to promote its Healthy Smiles 2010 campaign. Crest recently teamed up with the University of Texas Health Science Center here to further the efforts of the national program by providing dental care and education to children in underserved communities. The program includes local treatment and education efforts through its mobile dental vehicles and the health center. Children treated through the program will receive Crest products and bilingual information on proper dental care.

Generic Smoking Control

CORONA, Calif. -- Watson Pharmaceuticals here, a manufacturer, distributor and marketer of branded and generic pharmaceutical products, is helping smokers kick the habit with a new private-label, smoking-cessation product. The company's subsidiary, Rugby Laboratories, will introduce its over-the-counter nicotine polacrilex gum to independent pharmacies and managed health care facilities within the next few weeks. As the company increases production capacity at its facility in Copiague, N.Y., "we are now able to provide even more consumers with a viable alternative to the branded product," said Joe Papa, Watson's COO.
