Designed to address hard-to-reach and difficult-to-clean areas, SonicScrubbers for the kitchen and bathroom save cleaning time and energy by as much as 50%-75%, the company said. A national marketing plan includes chain-store merchandising involving in-store demonstrations and off-shelf display units that began last month and national and major market promotional programs including ads in women's magazines and during television talk shows.

HBC, Country-Style

NEW YORK - The Colgate Country Showdown has begun. In this partnership with Colgate-Palmolive here, local retailers and country music radio stations are giving thousands of performers the chance to launch their careers while driving retail sales. Beginning last month and continuing through April, Colgate is sending out national freestanding inserts announcing the program and offering consumers coupons on Colgate-Palmolive products. Country music radio stations are partnering with retailers to host local contests, and winners will move ahead. Those who make the national final, which will air on Great American Country Television, compete for $100,000 and the title "Best New Act in Country Music." Colgate offers customized point-of-purchase materials and other merchandising support, and commits co-op advertising dollars to participating retailers.

Crowded House

CENTURY CITY, Calif. - "Cheaper by the Dozen 2," sequel to the family comedy "Cheaper by the Dozen," arrives on DVD from Fox Home Entertainment here on May 23. Steve Martin ("Father of the Bride"), Bonnie Hunt ("Jerry Maguire") and Hilary Duff ("A Cinderella Story") reprise their roles as the family heads to the lake house for a memorable summer vacation. The DVD will be available on one disc with both widescreen and full screen versions. The release will be supported by a comprehensive marketing program including local cable spots and radio advertising, as well as online support and a major publicity campaign, according to Fox Home Entertainment.
