CHICAGO -- Quaker Oats Co. here has acquired Arnie's Bagelicious Bagels, Brooklyn, N.Y., a privately held manufacturer of frozen New York-style bagels. Neither the price nor the terms of the purchase were disclosed.

Over the past year, the company has acquired two other businesses that market their products primarily to in-store bakeries. "A substantial portion, more than half, of Arnie's Bagelicious Bagels' sales volume is through in-store bakeries," a Quaker spokesman told SN.
The newly acquired company will become part of Quaker Oats' in-store bakery business unit, which was formed last year within Quaker's Food Service group. The Quaker Food Service group currently has sales in excess of $450 million. Quaker declined to reveal Arnie's annual sales figures.
