COMPTON, Calif. -- Ralphs Grocery Company here announced a marketing relationship with CheckOut.com, an entertainment site specializing in music, video and games which launched earlier this month.
CheckOut.com home page. Once a Ralphs customer places an order with CheckOut.com, they will receive a $10 coupon in the mail to be used at Ralphs stores.
"Bringing added value to Ralphs customers is our first priority. The relationship with CheckOut.com allows us to offer our customers a variety of entertainment-related products as well as special discounts at Ralphs. This is a great way for us to create an more enjoyable shopping experience for our customer," said Tom Dahlen, executive vice president for Ralphs.
Investors in CheckOut.com, Beverly Hills, Calif., include Yucaipa Cos., the largest shareholder in supermarket giant Kroger Co., Cincinnati, which is the parent company of Ralphs.
AmeriCold Testing New Tracking System
ATLANTA -- AmeriCold Logistics here, a provider of temperature-controlled storage and food distribution services, is testing a new satellite communication and vehicle tracking system. AmeriCold's Carthage, Mo., distribution center is the first to test the new system.
Transportation carriers and their customers can log onto the system to pinpoint a truck's location and access information such as estimated time of arrival.
After testing is complete, it is expected to be rolled out nationally to AmeriCold's regional distribution centers.
AmeriCold has 104 facilities throughout the country serving major retailers and food manufacturers, such as Kmart and Perdue Farms.
Fleming to Use Cash Systems from ATS
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Fleming Cos. Here signed an agreement with ATS Money Systems Inc., Englewood, N.J., to provide in-store cash management systems through Fleming's Retail Financial Services Group.
The Retail Financial Services Group offers services and programs to more than 3,000 affiliate supermarkets. The Retail Financial Services Group will offer a new program featuring currency counters and check encoders from the vendor to reduce the cut the cost associated with cash and check processing.
