OAK CREEK, Wis. -- Mega Mart here has extended its program of renting Spanish-language videos to a second store, said Bob Glisch, vice president of operations. "We have a good representation of Spanish-speaking people there, so we decided to give it a try," he said.

The video-rental department in the Racine, Wis., store started with about 200 Hispanic tapes. The first store to get the tapes, in Milwaukee, has done very well, Glisch said. "We've been bringing in the new hits as they come out and building up the inventory."

MGM Is Planning

To Parole 'Hoodlum'

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- MGM Home Entertainment here will release "Hoodlum," which grossed $25 million at the box office, Jan. 6. Prebook is Dec. 12.

MGM is working with distribution partner Warner Home Video, Burbank, Calif., on a "Hoodlum" promotion in which consumers can get a free sports watch valued at $15 as part of the "Reel Rentals" program. The watch is available with a coupon that can obtained at retail outlets.

New Line to Street

'Money,' 'Julian Po'

LOS ANGELES -- New Line Home Video here will release the $40 million box office movie "Money Talks" Jan. 13. The action-comedy, which stars Charlie Sheen, Chris Tucker and Heather Locklear, is set to book Dec. 22.

Another New Line rental title, "Julian Po," will street Jan. 27, with a 45-day pay-per-view window. Prebook on the drama is Jan. 6. Retailers who buy two copies of the title are eligible to receive a free copy of two videos from "Julian Po's" producers: "Bed of Roses" and "Pump Up the Volume."

Paramount Lands

'Event Horizon'

HOLLYWOOD -- Paramount Home Video here will release "Event Horizon" to the rental market Jan. 27 with a 50-day pay-per-view window. The science-fiction thriller earned $26 million at the box office and has an order cutoff date of Jan. 12.
