PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Services have been held here for Robert "Bob" F. DeWeese, who died here on Sept. 12 of pulmonary fibrosis. DeWeese had a long and distinguished career in the food retail industry.
at Ralphs Grocery Co. and CEO of California Packers Cold Storage.
DeWeese was also active in industry organizations, including president of City of Hope, director of Western Association of Food Chains, director of National Council of Christians and Jews, board member of Food Marketing Institute, director of California Food Employers Council and member of "Who's Who in the Food Industry." He also was a Rotarian.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dottie; three daughters, Paulette Quaid, Ellen Lawson and Jeanne DeWeese; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Robert and Dennis.
