TOPEKA, Kan. -- Services were held here for Robert F. Norris, a longtime leader in the food industry who died at his home in Paradise Valley, Ariz., following a serious illness. Norris was 76.

After leaving Fleming, Norris successively served as the president of M. Loeb, in Ottawa, Canada; president and chief executive officer of S.M. Flickinger Co., Buffalo, N.Y.; chairman of the Godfrey Co., Waukesha, Wis.; and chairman of ABCO Foods, Phoenix, Ariz. Upon retiring in 1987, Norris became a consultant to supermarket and food-distribution companies.

Norris was born on April 26, 1922, in Mullinville, Kan., and graduated from the University of Kansas and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret; his daughter, M. Sue Norris; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Deborah Norris; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sister, Cleo Norris of Kansas City.

At the family's request, memorial donations should be made to the hospice of the donor's choice.
