FREEHOLD, N.J. -- Foodarama Supermarkets here reported higher sales, lower net earnings and higher EBITDA for the fourth quarter ended Oct. 31.

Net income in the quarter fell 15.2% to $484,000, or 43 cents a share, from $571,000, or 51 cents, a year ago. The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization for the latest quarter was $4.325 million compared to $4.299 million in the year-ago period.
For the 52-week period, sales rose 9.5% to $697.4 million from $636.7 million. Same store sales increased 4.8%. Net income for the year rose 67.3% to $1.78 million, or $1.59 a share, from $1.06 million, or 90 cents a share. EBITA was $15.765 million versus $15.744 million in the prior period.
