BURBANK, Calif. -- Buena Vista Home Video here has set a new, lower price for the fourth-quarter release of "The Santa Clause," said spokesman Steven Feldstein. Instead of the previously announced $22.99 suggested retail price, the title will go out at $19.99. Feldstein said this is based on research that showed the title would sell significantly better at the lower price. Street date on "The Santa Clause" will be Oct. 25 with an Aug. 29 prebook. It will be supported with two $5 mail-in refund offers, one from General Mills and the other from Disney. "Cinderella," which the company will release Oct. 4 priced at $26.99, will be backed by $15 in mail-in rebates from General Mills, Kodak and Disney. This is "Cinderella's" second trip to the video market. It sold 7 million copies in a 1988 release. In other sell-through news, Buena Vista is readying the sequel to "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids," which would be its first live-action direct-to-video title, president Ann Daly said during the Video Software Dealers Association convention in late May. Other direct-to-video titles in the works include "Aladdin and the King of Thieves" and sequels to "The Lion King" and "Pocahontas."
