ST. LOUIS -- Schnuck Markets here has selected Chicago-based Transora as its recipient data pool, Transora announced last week. Transora will thereby serve as a single point of contact for Schnucks in data synchronization with suppliers. "We continue to be a believer in the benefits of data synchronization, having experienced those benefits but on a relatively small scale since our involvement with the GMA study in the Spring of 2000," Craig Schnuck, chairman and chief executive officer, Schnucks, said in a statement. "We now look to dramatically increase our ability to fully capitalize on these benefits." Under its contract, Schnucks will seek to quickly begin piloting with manufacturers already using Transora's data pool services, said Transora. Further expansion will include requesting that its other suppliers collaborate electronically. Transora, known primarily as a data pool for manufacturers, has begun signing up retailers this year, with Kroger and Publix preceding Schnucks.
