WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- About 100 jobs will be eliminated at Shaw's headquarters here as the chain's new corporate parent seeks to trim redundant management and operational processes.

$100 million and $125 million in fiscal year 2006.

The Enterprise, a newspaper in Brockton, Mass., reported that "at least 100 top-level management positions, including several vice presidents and their support staff," would be laid off over the next three months.

"As in any integration process, some layoffs will occur as the company seeks to eliminate redundant management and operation processes," Shaw's said in a prepared statement. "Store-level associates will not be affected, and customers will continue to receive the high level of service and product variety they have come to expect from Shaw's and Star Markets."

Albertsons and Shaw's officials declined to provide SN with additional details.
