EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Shaw's Supermarkets here has introduced store-brand chocolate bars.
Six varieties -- dark chocolate, chocolate raspberry, milk chocolate, milk chocolate with caramel, milk chocolate crispy and milk chocolate with peanut butter -- are available at all stores, according to a consumer affairs spokeswoman for the chain.
The spokeswoman said the bars, launched last month, have been well received by consumers, though she declined to comment on any other aspects of the program.
SN visited a Shaw's location in Quincy, Mass., where the bars were sold on a freestanding display placed at one end of the candy gondola. They retailed at two for $1.
