Those making nominations may want to refer to last year's Power 50 list, which is available on the SN Web site. People on the 2005 list can be nominated again this year. The deadline for this year's submissions is May 22.
SN's nominating instructions point out that it's difficult to develop a precise definition of the type of people who qualify for the Power 50. However, the instructions note the ideal candidates have an industry impact beyond the scope of their immediate organizations. They are "people who are sometimes controversial, always compelling" and "wield the most influence in the food industry and beyond."
