PHILADELPHIA -- Sorbee International here has introduced a new line of Belgian chocolates called Sweet Obsession.

The Classic Assorted Collection is a 7.24-ounce tin that contains 18 varieties of milk, white and dark chocolates with flavored centers. The Classic Coffee Collection contains 16 pieces in five different coffee flavors: cappuccino, caffe latte, chocolate mousse, amaretto and mocha. Both collections will also be offered in a four-piece trial box with a suggested retail price of $1.49.
In addition to the collections, prepackaged shippers designed for in-store positioning are available. The shipper contains 30 Assorted tins, 12 Coffee tins and 18 each of the four-piece trial boxes.
"We've positioned the Sweet Obsession line between Godiva and Russell Stover, by offering exquisite flavors, textures and shapes in two distinctive and affordable boxed assortments," said Bob Krum, executive vice president of Sorbee.
Ghirardelli Welcomes Fancy Food Attendees
SAN FRANCISCO -- Attendees at the Winter Fancy Food Show, held here last month, were greeted at the Moscone Center entrance by Ghirardelli Chocolate representatives, bearing small, different-colored foil-wrapped squares of chocolate on trays. Just 0.51 ounces, the samples were marked kosher and "NEW."
"Ghirardelli is filling the chocolates now," said a demo lady, handing out samples filled with caramel, orange, mint or double chocolate fudge. At the booth, more samples were available, along with blue and gold jewelry pins that showed the company's new logo.
The San Leandro, Calif.-based company was showing all new packaging on its full line of confections, including the four new filled Premier Bars, four new filled Chocolate Squares, and open stock boxes containing squares. New gift items include the Holiday 2000 Gift Collection.
Ghirardelli has a complete line of kosher baking items that includes Sweet Ground Chocolate and Cocoa, Unsweetened Cocoa, chocolate chips, baking bars and hot chocolate.
