QUINCY, Mass. -- The Stop & Shop Cos., based here, has appointed three people to top-level executive positions -- all newly created -- in the 204-store chain's fresh categories. They are:

epared foods and cheese. Prior to this, he was director of deli sales. Gaetini joined Stop & Shop as a part-time employee in 1959.

Ray Daigneault, promoted to vice president, bakery sales and procurement. He is responsible for all sales, merchandising and procurement activities in the department, including commercial bakery operations. Before this, he was director, Bake Shop sales and procurement. Daigneault joined the company in 1968.

Bill Brophy, promoted to vice president, produce sales and procurement. He is responsible for all sales, merchandising and procurement for the category. Most recently, he was director, produce sales and procurement. Brophy joined the company as a cashier in 1974.
