Growth of in-store bank branches continued to skyrocket last year when new installations rose 25%. last year, with 637 new branches having opened in 1995. The survey was conducted by International Banking Technologies, Atlanta. The growth may be driven partly by response to the surge of in-store bank branches in supercenters. Wal-Mart Stores, Bentonville, Ark., for example, plans to equip all of its existing and future supercenters with bank branches.
