PHOENIX -- There was more of everything attendees expect of General Merchandise Distributors Council conferences when the Colorado Springs, Colo., group held its annual Health and Beauty Care Marketing Conference here this month. Meetings between suppliers and buyers were longer -- either 12 or 24 minutes instead of the eight-minute standard of the past -- and there were two studies presented from GMDC's New York-based Educational Foundation: "Leveraging the Connection Between Pharmacy and the Whole Store" and part two of the group's "Merchandising for Success" study, focusing on how to take advantage of HBC trends and opportunities. Meanwhile, attendees had the chance to socialize and take part in the "Silent Auction" benefiting the Educational Foundation.
