TARGET IS MOVING AHEAD WITH SUPERCENTER PLANS

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Target discount store division of Dayton Hudson here is moving ahead with plans to open supercenters, Robert Ulrich, chairman and chief executive of Dayton Hudson, said at the company's annual meeting last week. The company will open experimental supercenters in three different markets next year, he told shareholders. While he didn't specify locations, sources within the company said two of the sites are in Omaha, Neb., and Lawrence, Kan. "We are always looking at new and emerging formats that may become part of our retail mix," he said.
