WASHINGTON -- The presidents of three of the world's largest food and consumer products trade associations formed the North American Alliance recently at the charter-signing ceremony here. The organization's purpose is to unite Canadian, Mexican and American business interests in an effort to identify and eliminate trade barriers in North American Free Trade Agreement countries. Topics of interest include environmental, labeling and tax and investment barriers, as well as food-safety standards and tariff policies.
