TOPCO ASSOCIATES NAMES BOYD

SKOKIE, Ill. -- Topco Associates has named Bert Boyd Jr. vice president of produce/floral operations for the Midwest wholesale cooperative. Boyd replaces Fred Tsuhara, who officially retired on Sept. 30, according to officials. Previously, Boyd was national manager of produce and floral procurement service at American Stores, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Albertsons, Boise, Idaho. His produce and retail experience also includes more than 20 years with the Jewel Food Stores, a division of American. Boyd will report to Russ Wolfe, Topco's senior vice president of perishables.

Agostini currently is a board of directors member for both the Produce Marketing Association, Newark, Del., and the Produce for Better Health Foundation, Wilmington, Del.

Natural Selection Names Two

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, Calif. -- Natural Selection Foods, a grower/shipper of specialty salads and organic produce, has named two industry veterans to new positions. Larry Hamwey was appointed vice president of marketing and product development, reporting to Myra Goodman, executive vice president. Hamwey joins the company after two years as vice president of marketing at Dole Fresh Vegetables, Salinas, Calif. Prior to Hamwey's appointment, Goodman had been handling marketing and product development in addition to her responsibilities as executive vice president. The company has also appointed Dean Fahselt vice president, sales and business development, responsible for enhancement of the company's products and services. Before this, he was team leader - national sales and marketing, for Melissa's/World Variety Produce, Vernon, Calif. At Natural Selection, Fahselt reports to Drew Goodman, company president.

Avocado Group Appointments

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- The California Avocado Commission has named Connie Stukenberg and Angela Fraser to its merchandising staff. Stukenberg joins the commission as merchandising director, responsible for all activities related to avocado promotions at store level. She has an extensive background in the produce industry, most recently as retail sales manager/customer team leader for California Day-Fresh Foods. In her new role, Fraser is coordinating all merchandising activities and providing administrative support. She joined the CAC merchandising staff in August as merchandising administrative coordinator. Before that, she served as administrative assistant to the senior vice president of retail sales at Ready Pac Produce.
