BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Tops Markets here featured a Chinese dinner for two at a special price during September.
. Dinner for two, $9.99." The dinner, regularly $12.95, includes sweet and sour chicken, broccoli beef, fried rice, two egg rolls and two fortune cookies.
A store source told SN that the dinner for two was promoted throughout September at all four Tops units that have the Oriental Express program.
The store, opened this summer, was included on a tour of local supermarkets that was held in conjunction with the annual food service conference sponsored by the Food Marketing Institute and National-American Wholesale Grocers' Association held last month in Rochester.
A menu at the Oriental Express counter lists 16 entrees, and one page features "family dinners." It features a dinner for two, $12.95; dinner for three, $19.95; dinner for four, $28.95; and dinner for six, $43.95.
