DAYTON, Ohio -- A task force created by the Uniform Code Council here is investigating alternate communications protocol -- including use of the Internet -- for electronic data interchange.

In addition to the Internet, the task force will investigate x.400 and x.435 standards for electronic messaging and decide this summer whether to conduct a pilot test.
