United uses disease-state-management software from PDX, Dallas, that was created by the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy and Bergen. As reported in SN last month, United pharmacies have also begun offering cholesterol screenings to customers.

United Supermarkets currently operates 38 stores and in June plans to open a 39th in Snyder, Texas.

Bergen Brunswig Corp., the drug company's parent, had 1998 revenues of $17.1 billion.
