VSDA Redesigns Its On-Line Site
Software Dealers Association here has redesigned its Web site, "VSDA Online," at www.vsda.org. The site features resources for its video retailer membership, and also includes a consumer area to promote home video. Following an introductory period that will run until April 22, portions of the site will be available only to VSDA members.
"VSDA has enjoyed a limited on-line presence for some time now," said Bo Andersen, acting president of the association. "The time has come to expand this valuable resource."
The "Members" area of the site will detail VSDA and its programs, as well as research and new release information. A "Discussion Board" and a VSDA staff contact list also will be included. Among the marketing resources will be a clip art gallery and an advertising section.
Manager Acquitted Of Porn Charges
PROVO, Utah -- In a closely watched case, a former video specialty store employee has been acquitted of 15 pornography charges. The first trial of Larry Peterman, who was a general manager of retailer Video Buffs, had ended with a hung jury. The charges stemmed from a 1996 raid on two of the company's stores in American Fork and Lehi, Utah.
Hastings Plans E-Commerce Site
AMARILLO, Texas -- Hastings Entertainment, which operates entertainment software stores that stock sell-through and rental videos, as well as multimedia, video games, books and magazines, plans to launch a new e-commerce Web site in about a month at www.gohastings.com. Among its offerings will be new and used entertainment products, gifts, toys and books selling at up to 50% off list price.
