SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -- Village Super Market here reported a sales increase of 9.4% and net income gain of 106% for the fiscal 2000 second quarter ended Jan. 29.

Same-store sales were sparked by the acquisition of a store in Vineland, N.J., in May of 1999, the company said.
For the 26 weeks ended Jan. 29, sales increased 9.6% to $406 million. Net income soared 89% to $4.56 million.
