FREEHOLD, N.J. -- Foodarama Supermarkets here said sales for the 13-week third quarter ended Aug. 2 were $161.1 million, up 8.9% from $147.8 million in the year-ago period.

ales from the 18 units operated for 13 weeks in both periods increased 2.6%.

Net income in the quarter was $245,000, or 22 cents per share, a decrease of 23% compared with $320,000, or 25 cents per share, in the previous third quarter.
