ARCADIA, Calif. -- Vons Cos. here teamed with Kimberly Clark to offer its shoppers a sweetheart of a deal on Kimberly Clark's Huggies and Kleenex products.
The two companies offered customers a chance to win one of 5,000 pairs of free movie tickets as part of a Valentine's Day sweepstakes. Shoppers with a VonsClub Card frequent shopper card were automatically entered into the sweepstakes each time they swiped the card when they shopped, and if they purchased a participating Kimberly Clark product they received an additional bonus entry.
Vons devoted a half-page of its weekly circular to the promotion with the headline "Take your sweetie to the movies!" and offered specials on Huggies and Kleenex products during the event, which ran from Feb. 1 through Feb. 15.
During the promotion, Huggies convenience pack diapers were featured at $6.99 a package, as were Huggies Pull-Ups or Goodnites training pants.
Assorted Kleenex facial tissues were 99 cents with a VonsClub Card and $1.09 without. A four-pack of Kleenex double roll bathroom tissue was on sale for $2.39, while Hi-Dri paper towels were on sale at two rolls for $1.19.
Vons offered additional $1-off coupons for Huggies, Pull-Ups and Goodnites and buy-three-get-one-free coupons for Kleenex tissues during the event.
