LOS ANGELES -- The Video Software Dealers Association has issued policy recommendations on the street dates of major sell-through titles that includes distribution controls, a monitoring and reporting system, an educational campaign and a statement about enforcement. The recommendations were made by a task force formed by VSDA to deal with the problem following widespread street-date violations on "Jurassic Park." Among the recommendations are that products will be shipped to retailers no sooner than the Monday before street date, with the following Thursday as both the street date and "will-call" availability date. The national advertised availability date will be on Friday.
