FOSTER CITY, Calif. -- Webvan Group here said last week it will partner with America's Second Harvest, Chicago, to launch a nationwide program to fight hunger.

The program will begin in the 10 markets Webvan currently serves -- Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Orange County, Calif., Portland, Ore., Sacramento, Calif., San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles -- and will expand as the company enters additional markets.

The program enables customers and corporations to make monetary donations to America's Second Harvest through Webvan. America's Second Harvest will distribute the funds to its affiliates in the specific areas Webvan serves. Local food banks and food rescue programs will then in turn purchase food and products to serve their needs directly from Webvan.
