LAS VEGAS -- Wegmans Food Markets, Rochester, N.Y., won Retailer of the Year honors in the nonspecialty store category during the Video Software Dealers Association convention here July 27. During the awards presentation, Donna McNulty, video mer-chandiser, said, "It is truly an honor to be accepting this award for my company. We would like to thank all of the movie studios, the VSDA, Ingram Entertainment, our customers and our employees." Wegmans ranked seventh among supermarkets and 14th among the other retailers in video rental transactions, according to a study conducted last year for Video Software Magazine. Also nominated in the category were Randall's Food Markets, Houston; Kroger Co., Cincinnati, and electronics retailer Best Buy, Minneapolis. The selection was made by VSDA's Manufacturers Advisory Committee, chaired by David Bishop, executive vice president of MGM/UA Home Entertainment.
