RIDGEWOOD, N.Y. -- Western Beef here said it had record fourth-quarter earnings of $1.69 million, or 31 cents per share, an increase of 4% from $1.62 million, or 30 cents per share, a year ago.

Sales for the year increased 13.1% to a record $340.88 million, compared with $301.388 million from last year. Comparable-store sales increased 1.1% for the year, the company said.
