WHOLE FOODS PACKS LUNCH FOR TEAM SURVIVORS

SEATTLE (FNS) -- Organic grocery offerings were the buzz during Team Survivor Northwest's first golf outing and awards dinner at the Broadmoor Golf Club here. Eighteen manufacturers, along with Whole Foods Markets, banded together to provide snacks, treats, lunch and dinner for a group of 140 golfers and their guests throughout the day-long event on May 19.

Team Survivor Northwest is a sports and exercise program for women cancer survivors.

Organic flowers along with an assortment of organic foods were arranged into centerpieces that were auctioned off at the evening's end. The centerpieces featured Penta Water, Rainier Natural Bakery, Essential Baking Co., allGoode Real Food Bars and Snack Mixes, Kettle Chips, Seeds of Change Salsas, MaryJanesFarm Instant Cuisines, Florganics Coffee Syrups, Frey Wines, Wolaver's Ales, Terra Nostra Chocolates, King Blossom Naturals apples and Stretch Island Fruit Leathers along with Organic Bouquet roses and tulips.

Participating companies Flying Apron Bakery, Penta Water, Blue Sky Organic Sodas and Columbia Gorge Fruit Juices and Smoothies provided organic snacks during the golf activities. Whole Foods Markets provided box lunches for the participants.

Dennis Weaver of Change Your Food Change Your Life, an Edmonds, Wash.-based group that introduces consumers to organic food choices, coordinated the food retailer and manufacturers' participation.

According to the Hartman Group, Bellevue, Wash., many consumers shift their shopping habits to include more organic selections following a health crisis or disease diagnosis.
