MINNEAPOLIS -- Lunds Food Stores here has added the whole meal concept to the Chickery counter, as the most notable of several consumer-oriented features in its new Carry-Out Cafe.

Russell T. "Tres" Lund 3rd, president of the nine-unit independent, said he expects the addition of a whole meal program at the Chickery component to give Lunds' new cafe format an edge in the heated competition to provide home meal replacements among retailers and quick-service restaurants.

A roster of hot and cold side dishes and family meal packages dominates the Chickery menu. The sides include seasoned wedge fries, mashed potatoes, stuffing, glazed carrots, baked beans, squash mix, corn, mixed vegetables, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, green beans with almonds, potato salad, coleslaw, pasta salad, fresh cut fruit and tossed green salad. An individual side dish is $1.10; a large, family-size, $3.95.

Family meals centered around rotisserie or fried chicken range in price from $6.99 to $23.99 and include from two to four side dishes. All include corn bread or dinner rolls. Chicken pot pies and vegetable pot pies also are available, for $3.99 and $2.99. Chicken also is offered by the piece.
